The Bagh Borj region in Iran spans across more than eighty mining areas and stretches over 130 kilometers, rich with diverse gemstones. These stones showcase a wide range of colors, including yellow, yellowish-green, green, olive green, and black.
Darkening with Size
As gemstones grow larger, they often develop a much darker hue, especially stones above three carats in their rough form. This natural process creates a unique appearance, adding to the allure of the stones from this region.
Rarity of Large, Exceptional Stones
Larger gemstones of exceptional quality are rare in Bagh Borj. Like the famous demantoids from the Ural Mountains, most stones from this area weigh less than five carats, with only a select few exceeding the 10-carat mark.
